Here are 3 big things you need to know—
One — President Trump has taken his first actions of his second term in the White House. Trump signed nine executive orders to cheers from his supporters in front of a sold-out crowd at the Capital One Arena in Washington, DC. He rescinding almost 80 of former President Biden's executive actions, and signed orders that included a regulatory freeze, one that requires federal workers back in office five days a week, and a withdraw from the Paris Climate Treaty.
Two ---- The U.S. Senate has passed the Laken Riley Act. It now moves to the House after garnering 64 votes in the upper chamber. The bill is aimed at expanding the federal government's mandate to detain immigrants who are in the country illegally. The Laken Riley Act is named after a Georgia nursing school student who was murdered last year by an illegal immigrant.
And number three — The Senate Armed Services Committee has voted to send Pete Hegseth's nomination to be defense secretary to the Senate floor. All 14 Republicans voted in favor of Hegseth, while all 13 Democrats voted against. The nomination now moves to the full Senate. If all Republicans vote “yes,” Hegseth will be the nation’s next Defense Secretary.

Here are 3 big things you need to know—
One — Around 15-hundred people who were convicted in the January 6th events are now the recipients of presidential pardons. The pardons were among President Trump's acts in first day back in the White House. He also signed an executive order that designates drug cartels as foreign terrorist organizations and signed an order that rescinds almost 80 of former President Biden's executive actions.
Two ---- Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer says in a statement that she is looking forward to getting to work on the priorities we share with President Donald Trump. She issued a statement yesterday congratulating him on the win and saying she remains focused on fixing Michigan's roads, fighting for advanced manufacturing industries, and working with Canadian partners. Well, that’s a long way from calling him “deranged,” which she previously said.
And number three — The Chicago Bears are finalizing deal to make current Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson their next head coach. Johnson takes over for Matt Eberflus, who was fired midseason following a loss to the Lions on Thanksgiving. The 38-Year-Old coach spent the last six seasons in various roles with Detroit.

Here are 3 big things you need to know—
One — President-elect Donald Trump told supporters last night that four long years of American decline would end with his inauguration today. Trump also previewed a flurry of Day 1 executive orders and promised to repeal President Biden’s executive actions within hours of taking office. He also announced he would visit California on Friday to tour wildfire damage.
Two ---- The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services is awarding Moderna 590 million-dollars to speed up the development of flu vaccines, including a vaccine for the bird flu. The funding adds to the 176-million-dollars HHS gave Moderna in July. Of course, nothing bad happened the last time vaccine development, millions of dollars, and Moderna came together, so there’s no reason to worry here.
And number three — An Extreme Cold Warning has been issued for the western section of the Upper Peninsula. There the wind chill has already plummeted to 40 degrees below zero and daytime high temperatures will be around zero the next few days. Nearly all of Michigan is already covered by a Cold Weather Advisory, with wind chills more than 20 below expected soon.
