Here are 3 big things you need to know—
One — Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is tapping his state's attorney general to fill Marco Rubio's U.S. Senate seat. Ashley Moody will serve in the Senate until a special election is held next year. President-elect Trump selected Rubio to be his secretary of state.
Two ---- The FDA is authorizing Zyn nicotine pouches to be sold. This comes after the agency said they conducted an "extensive scientific review" on the pouches safety. The agency said it found the pouches posed a lower cancer risk than cigarettes and other smokeless tobacco products, and also found it could help cigarette smokers trying to quit.
And number three — Some of music's biggest stars are coming together to raise money for those affected by the Los Angeles wildfires. Billie Eilish, Lady Gaga, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers have been booked to perform at the FireAid Benefit concert. Green Day, Jelly Roll, Earth, Wind & Fire, Katy Perry, and more will also be on the lineup. By the way, two massive fires are still raging in the Los Angeles area. Lighter winds yesterday allowed firefighters to make better progress in attempts to bring them under control, for now.

Here are 3 big things you need to know—
One — Negotiators for Israel and the terror group Hamas have reportedly signed a ceasefire and hostage deal. Multiple outlets say the deal was signed today in Qatar by officials from Israel, Hamas, the U.S. and Qatari officials. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu released a statement saying the families of the hostages have been informed a short while ago of the agreements. The question is, how many of those hostages are still alive?
Two ---- A pair of bills have been approved by a Michigan House committee and will soon be up for a full House vote to change the upcoming minimum wage hike and paid sick time law. Restaurant workers and owners have been pushing to keep the lower tipped wage in place, saying it that disappears and they earn 15-dollars-an-hour in five years, prices will go up, businesses will close, and many servers will have to leave their jobs. The bills keep tipped wages at a maximum of 38-percent of the minimum wage and also exempt small businesses from providing paid sick time. Senate Democrats have their own bills pending.
And number three — President Biden says Republican-led states did a poor job in handling their economies during the COVID pandemic. Speaking in a taped interview Thursday with MSNBC, Biden said red states really screwed up when it came to how they handled manufacturing and supply chains. Boy, if you need more evidence that the President is suffering from a diminished mental state … well, there you go.

Steve Gruber, The Left Is Going Wild this week on Capital Hill
Thursday Jan 16, 2025
Thursday Jan 16, 2025
Here are 3 Big Things you need to know to start today—
Number One— What will Joe Biden do in his last 4 days in office? Yesterday he took credit for a ceasefire in the Middle East—and a deal to get some hostages released—BUT everyone knows—it was really Donald Trump’s re-election and ultimatum that got it done—
Number Two— Joe Biden is about to leave the White House with the lowest approval ratings—that I have ever seen—38%-- and he gave a farewell speech last night—honestly I didn’t watch it—because I don’t care—
Number Three— The Left IS Going Wild this week on Capital Hill and honestly; it has not been a good look—in fact I think its fair to say—it has been borderline frightening at times—

Here are the 3 Big Things you need to know to start today—
Number One— The confirmation battles on Capital Hill continues on Wednesday—and the teeth were bare and the fur was flying—just another day as Democrats watch their power slip into the hands of Donald Trump—4 days now—4 days—
Number Two— The argument over who made the deal to end the war in Gaza is now ongoing—I think Joe Biden may have tried to take credit for it again last night—BUT like I said—I didn’t watch it—because with 38% approval—I don’t care—and few others do either—
Number Three— It is sad—BUT the fires in Los Angeles are continuing—and the destruction is almost unimaginable—more than 12,000 homes lost—more than 2 dozen dead—

Number Two— Nancy Mace lays down the goods on transgender women—coming into womens lockerrooms and then lays down the gauntlet for Jasmine Crockett—as the sparks flew—
Number Three— And in the main event—Pete Hegseth was released into what some might call the lions den—BUT I might call it something a bit different when referring to the cats—
