Scot Bertram, Suicide deaths are at a record high

—Here are 3 big things you need to know—

 

One — The truce between Israel and Hamas is being extended for another day.  The Israeli military says the temporary ceasefire in Gaza will continue for another day for the process of releasing hostages, and subject to the terms of the agreement.

 

 

Two—  The 46-day strike by the United Auto Workers Union cost General Motors an estimated one-point-one billion dollars.  The company announced this morning their adjusted operating profit for the year will be 11-point seven to 12-point seven billion dollars.  

 

 

Three -- Suicide deaths are at a record high. According to CDC data, more people died by suicide in 2022 than any other year on record since at least 1941.  While the newest data shows improvement in rates among children and teens, rates for all other age groups went up.  Nearly 50-thousand lives total were lost due to suicide in 2022.
