Three— The holiday travel rush is on as the new COVID variant spreads to 47 states. The Miami International Airport in Florida is one of many expecting record passengers. And now, extra officers are on hand after a fight Monday night when an officer was chased and attacked.
Two— President Biden will send an emergency response team to Michigan to help the state deal with the omicron COVID-19 variant. Governor Whitmer thanked Biden for the response, noting doctors and nurses are exhausted and at a breaking point.
And number one— The Biden administration may be considering an extension to the pause on student debt repayment. That's what a Department of Education spokesperson told CNBC Tuesday. Three— There's a new consequence for unruly passengers who disrupt flights. Those who move through airport security faster with Precheck status could now lose that privilege. Under a new partnership, the FAA will inform the TSA about anyone facing fines for bad behavior.
Two— Governor Whitmer has been cleared of two complaints she violated campaign finance laws. The Department of State says no legal violations were found in complaints by conservative groups over her accepting large campaign donations as she faced recalls or in chartering a private flight to Florida to visit her sick father.
And number one— It looks like healthcare workers exposed to coronavirus may not have to spend as long in quarantine. Officials are considering whether to shorten the ten day window for those who don't have symptoms. This would get them back to work faster as the omicron variant spreads.
