illness and the development of appropriate prevention and control measures. The

U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is releasing important new

data on the increasing number of Crypto outbreaks reported in the United States.

Crypto is a leading cause of waterborne illness in the United States. The

microscopic parasite can be spread in water contaminated by the fecal matter of

infected swimmers and can cause nausea, vomiting, stomach cramps, fever and

watery diarrhea in both children and adults.
